Surface sand mining from pit to shipment

Understand the material path and why each measurement matters.

Follow the material

Excavation, haulage, processing and stockpiling may each produce a different number. A truck count measures material moved; a plant or saleable sand number may reflect screening and waste removal.

Define categories first

Agree whether the daily report labels production, sand, trash and overburden at the point of excavation or after processing. Stable definitions allow leaders to compare days and explain yield differences.

In practice

Ten thousand tons hauled is not automatically ten thousand tons billable sand; use measured saleable output where the contract requires it.
