Measure both ends
Feed tonnage and product tonnage are not interchangeable. Moisture, oversize, fines and reject material can affect yield. Record the measurement point and method before comparing shifts.
Investigate changes
A lower saleable yield might reflect feed geology, screen condition or a classification change. Pair the numbers with plant downtime and notes, then compare like with like.
In practice
If 8,000 tons enter the plant and 6,600 tons are saleable, the simple saleable yield is 82.5% before inventory changes.
