Identify what changed
A replacement machine, control layout, traffic route or operating procedure may introduce different hazards. Compare the new task to the operator's documented experience and the site's training plan.
Record the decision
When instruction is required, record the subject, trainer and completion before independent assignment. Keep a clear distinction between a briefing, task instruction and an annual refresher session.
