Make a toolbox talk useful and traceable
A brief safety discussion should address today's work and record participation accurately.

Choose the hazard
A talk about blind intersections is most useful before a haul-road change, with site-specific examples and a clear action crews can take. Avoid recycling an identical script without reviewing today's conditions.
Document honestly
Capture topic, workday, presenter and actual acknowledgments. Acknowledgment shows participation, not automatically completion of annual refresher or task training; credit under Part 46 depends on qualifying instruction and records.
In practice
The supervisor explains a new traffic pattern, then operators acknowledge the talk before their pre-shift forms.
