Capture the required fields
Section 46.9 requires a certified record on Form 5000-23 or a form containing its listed information. The record includes the miner's full name, training type, duration, date, competent trainer, mine or contractor identification and the prescribed certification statements.
Retention is specific to record type
Keep current employees' training records through employment, except annual refresher records, which have a two-year minimum under this section. Retain records for at least 60 days after employment ends. Do not apply the one-year workplace examination period to training certificates.
In practice
An inspector asks for a driver's task record: retrieve the signed record, trainer, date, duration and mine ID, not just a green status badge.
