How a surface mine shift fits together

From start-of-day checks through hauling, reconciliation and the daily report.

Start with the work area

Before crews enter an active area, confirm its examination and communicate any conditions that affect work. Operators then complete equipment checks for their assigned units and record opening meter readings.

Close the loop at shift end

Collect per-truck loads and actual tonnage when available, closing hours, defects and downtime. Reconcile material categories and exceptions before leadership submits a daily report. This keeps field input and official production review distinct.

In practice

Three trucks can each record loads while a supervisor reviews the combined sand total and one downtime incident.
