Berms and dump-edge checks
What crews should observe and document at active edges.

Look for change, not a checkbox
Erosion, traffic damage, ground movement and a new dumping position can alter an edge between shifts. The inspection should locate the edge, describe the condition, and state what work is restricted until it is corrected.
Use the right governing standard
Berm or restraint dimensions depend on equipment and the applicable mine standard. An online calculator cannot certify a berm; a competent site review must account for conditions and current rules.
In practice
A truck dumps at a shifted stockpile edge. The crew rechecks the new edge before resuming, rather than relying on yesterday's observation.
